Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect during my first therapy session?
Our first session is a chance to get to know each other. I’ll ask about what brings you to therapy, your goals, and your history. You’re welcome to ask me questions, too. It's important to me that you feel safe, heard, and supported.

How long is each therapy session?
Sessions are typically 45-50 minutes long. Occasionally, longer sessions can be arranged based on your needs.

Who do you work with?
I work with adults and adolescents ages 13 and up. I also work with parents and families who I believe are an integral part of their teen’s health and wellbeing.

What should I talk about in therapy?
You can talk about anything that feels important to you, whether it’s current stressors, past experiences, or personal goals. I’m here to support you in exploring whatever you feel is relevant.

Do you offer in-person or online therapy?
I offer both in-person sessions at my office in Kingston and secure online therapy for clients located in New York.

How often will we meet?
Most clients begin with weekly sessions. Depending on your needs and goals, we can adjust the frequency over time.

How much do you charge? Do you take insurance?
My fee is $200 per session. I am in-network with Cigna/Evernorth. If I am not in-network with your plan, I provide superbills for reimbursement if your plan includes out-of-network benefits.

I also offer a limited number of sliding scale slots for clients who are experiencing financial hardship or have limited access to mental health resources. I believe that therapy should be accessible, and I’m committed to working with you to find a fee that feels manageable.

Sliding scale rates are based on income, household size, and financial circumstances. If you’re interested in this option, let me know during our initial consultation or when reaching out. I’ll let you know if there are current openings and we can discuss what fee might work for you.

Is everything we talk about confidential?
Yes. Everything you share is confidential, with a few legal exceptions, such as risk of harm to yourself or others. I will always explain those limits clearly if they arise.

What if I’ve never been to therapy before?
That’s completely okay—many people start therapy without knowing what to expect. I’ll guide you through the process at your pace, and there’s no pressure. Your comfort and readiness come first.

How do I get started?
You can contact me via the contact form on this site or by phone to schedule a complimentary 15-minute consultation. This gives us a chance to connect and get to know each other.

We have defined healing as something going away. Instead, healing is the ability to attend to whatever is hurting, to turn toward where the injuries are and patiently, with courage and clarity, let them be loved, and eventually love them ourselves.
